Man Accused Of Threatening Person With Handgun In Norwalk Arrested: Police
Police said a man accused of displaying a handgun and threatening to shoot someone in Norwalk was recently arrested.

NORWALK, CT — A man accused of displaying a handgun and threatening to shoot someone in Norwalk was arrested Tuesday, according to police.
In a news release, Police Lt. Tomasz Podgorski said a 911 caller reported a man had displayed a handgun and threatened to shoot the caller around 4:30 p.m. in the area of the 400 block of Westport Avenue.
When officers arrived in the area, they found a man matching a description of the suspect, Podgorski said.

As officers approached the man, identified as Isaiah Mitchell, 21, of Norwalk, they saw him remove a hand gun form his waistband and pass it into the passenger side of a nearby vehicle, according to Podgorski.
Officers detained Mitchell and two people in the vehicle and secured the firearm, Podgorski said.

After further investigation, officers discovered Mitchell had also entered a nearby store during the incident and caused a disturbance prior to threatening the 911 caller, according to Podgorski.
The handgun was found to have a defaced serial number and was loaded with eleven .40 caliber rounds in the magazine, Podgorski said.
Mitchell was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, first-degree threatening, possession of a large capacity magazine, alteration of a firearm serial number, carrying a firearm while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drug and second-degree breach of peace.
His bond was set at $500,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court next month, according to Podgorski.
