Norwalk Grassroots Tennis & Education Tournament Finds New Sponsor

Avison Young's local office is sponsoring the annual Norwalk Grassroots Tennis & Education Play in May Tournament and Gala in May 6.

From Avison Young: Avison Young, the world’s fastest-growing commercial real estate services firm, today announced that its Fairfield/Westchester office is sponsoring the annual Norwalk Grassroots Tennis & Education (NGTE) Play in May Tournament and Gala to be held on Saturday, May 6th at country clubs throughout the Norwalk area. The announcement was made by Sean M. Cahill, Principal and Managing Director of Avison Young’s Fairfield/Westchester office and a member of the board of the NGTE.

The mission of Norwalk Grassroots Tennis & Education is to build strength of character and a foundation for success for underserved youth through tennis and education. Their goal is to ensure each participant is on a path towards success on the court, in the classroom and in life.

“NGTE programming was developed based on a theory of change: Engage underserved children in Norwalk through tennis, offer a safe and welcoming family environment, and provide them comprehensive support to meet their academic, physical, and social-emotional needs,” said Cahill. “This helps build a foundation that enables them to graduate high school prepared for college and/or a career, putting them on a path toward greater opportunity and success.”

The day-long event starts with tennis tournaments beginning at 8:30 a.m. at local country clubs and culminates with the annual gala at the Darien Country Club at 300 Mansfield Avenue in Darien, CT. The gala kicks off at 5:45 p.m. with a live screening of the Kentucky Derby, followed by dinner, open bar, live auction and casino style games. All proceeds benefit the ongoing programs of the NGTE.
