Norwalk Land Trust arranges ‘Discovery Day’ September 24 for Family Fun

The event will feature tours, face-painting, games, and more.

NORWALK, CT - Master falconer Brian Bradley brings his birds of prey to The Preserve at Farm Creek September 24 for the Norwalk Land Trust’s “Discovery Day,” a free afternoon of fun and entertainment for the family.

Bradley’s one-hour demonstration of outdoor flight by falcons, hawks and other predatory birds starting at 12:30 p.m. is called “Skyhunters in Flight” and is part of four hours of activities at the 16-acre tidal estuary in Rowayton (at 34 Sammis St.). The preserve is one of 28 properties totaling nearly 100 acres under the stewardship of the NLT, all of special importance to the natural life cycle in Norwalk.

“Discovery Day” runs from noon to 4 p.m. aided by the sponsorship of Fairfield County Bank. The day is open to the public at no charge. A $10 donation is suggested to help fund the NLT’s environmental preservation work.

Guided tours of The Preserve at Farm Creek have been arranged for September 24, also activities like face-painting, a scavenger hunt and other games, plus refreshments. A “touch tank” assembled by the Maritime Aquarium of Norwalk and filled with sea creatures is also to be on site.
