NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk man accused of firing gunshots in the city last week was arrested Thursday, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Tomasz Podgorski said Eugene Davis, 44, of Norwalk, was charged with illegal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment and first-degree criminal attempt at assault.

According to Podgorski, officers received a report on April 4 around 9 p.m. of shots fired in the Connecticut Avenue area, where they found several shell casings in the roadway.

Officers worked through the night, collecting evidence and canvassing the area, and later identified Davis as a suspect in the shooting, according to Podgorski.

Police secured an arrest warrant for Davis, who turned himself in at police headquarters Thursday, Podgorski said.

Davis' bond was set at $1 million and he is scheduled to appear in court later this month, Podgorski said.
