Norwalk Man Named "Screech" Sentenced on Prostitution Ring Charges

A 24-year-old Norwalk man who's street name was "Screech" was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison Wednesday for his role in an illegal prostitution ring, authorities said.

According to the U.S. Attorney's office, a 24-year-old Norwalk man was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison Wednesday for his role in an illegal prostitution ring.

Authorities announced Giovanni Vazquez, known as "Screech" on the streets, was sentenced to two-and-three-quarters years in federal prison and five years of supervised release.

Vazquez was charged—along with Theodore Briggs, Harry Franklin and others—for his role in transporting women and minors across state lines for illegal acts of prositution. Vazquez is alleged to have transported girls as young as 14 years old, between Connecticut, New York and New Jersey.

Vazquez is alleged to have been operating the ring out of his apartment in the city, with Briggs posting pictures of the women on a website soliciting customers.

Vazquez has been in custody since his arrest on January 2, 2011. On September 29, 2011, he pleaded guilty to one count of transportation of an individual with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.
