Norwalk Museum Holds Gala Celebrating 50 Years

The Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum will celebrate its 50th Anniversary with 1960s themed Gala.

NORWALK, CT – On October 15, 2016 at 7 p.m., the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum will hold its 50th Anniversary Gala at 295 West Avenue in Norwalk, CT.

Co-chaired by LMMM Chairman of the Board of Trustees Patsy R. Brescia and LMMM Trustee Lawrence F. Cafero Jr., the LMMM 50th Anniversary Gala will include cocktails, a black-tie dinner, live and silent auctions, and a special presentation by Ruth S. Taylor, keynote speaker. Ms. Taylor is the executive director of the Newport Historical Society, which maintains five colonial-era properties and a preeminent collection of documents, photographs and artifacts. Together, these collections tell the important story of Newport and Rhode Island’s role in America’s history.

Patsy Brescia said, “This year’s Gala will put a spotlight on the endurance, significance and cultural vitality of our American landmarks and of the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, one of the region’s most treasured heritage destinations. We will also celebrate the 1960s, when the Mansion was spared from demolition and open its doors to our communities.”

Guests will also be invited to preview the Mansion’s newest exhibition, The Westport Artist Collective Explores the Revolutionary Sixties, curated by Nancy McTague-Stock, opening to the general public on Oct. 19, and view the ongoing exhibit, Demolish or Preserve: The 1960s at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion.

The black-tie dinner is catered by Best in Gourmet. Gala tickets are $225 for Rotunda seats and $175 for the Adjoining Room.
