NORWALK, CT — Norwalk is now hiring for a deputy building official position in the city's Code Enforcement Department.

In a post on the city's Facebook page, Norwalk officials said the person hired for the position will be "responsible for assisting the chief building official in preparing near-term and long-range planning of code development to meet the changing needs of the city."

They will also be responsible for supervising field inspection work, according to the city.

An attached job description notes the person hired to the position "performs executive administrative duties and construction inspection tasks in supervising a comprehensive building advisory, inspection, and enforcement program, supervises and enforces the state building code, city building ordinances and regulations related to health, safety, and fire codes, and provides technical consultation and assistance to city boards and commissions."

The position also requires the person hired to assume responsibility for administration of the building code in the absence of the chief building official, according to the job description.
