Norwalk Police Warn Residents To Report Any Unauthorized Solicitors
Police said they have received complaints of unpermitted solicitors throughout Norwalk and are taking action to enforce city code.
NORWALK, CT — Police remind residents to report any unauthorized solicitors they encounter in Norwalk in light of recent complaints.
In a Facebook post Friday, police said they have received complaints of unpermitted solicitors throughout Norwalk and are taking action to enforce city code.
According to police, unlicensed soliciting is a violation and includes a fine for each residence solicited.

"We ask that residents familiarize themselves with the guidelines and contact the police department if they find solicitors in violation," police said on Facebook.
Authorized solicitors must adhere to the following guidelines, according to the Norwalk Police Department:

- Each business and individual solicitor must submit an application and pass a background check before they are issued a solicitor ID badge.
- A solicitor permit does NOT allow entry to any premises that has postings that restrict public access such as No Trespassing or No Solicitation.
- Soliciting is allowed from 9 a.m. to dusk.
- Solicitors must have a city of Norwalk ID badge displayed, not a company ID badge alone.
Police ask residents to immediately report any authorized solicitors at 203-854-3000.
