Norwalk Primary Election 2025: Results In Key Race
Unofficial results for Tuesday's Democratic mayoral primary election in Norwalk have been released by the city.

NORWALK, CT — Barbara Smyth ultimately pulled ahead of Darlene Young in a close Democratic primary election for mayor in Norwalk, according to unofficial results released Tuesday night by the city's registrar of voters.
The unofficial results revealed Smyth received 1,504 votes while Young received 1,429 votes.
Only registered Democrats were eligible to vote in Tuesday's primary election, the winner of which will advance to become their party's banner bearer in the general election on Nov. 4.

Both Smyth and Young are members of the city's Common Council, of which Smyth serves as council president.
The Democratic winner will face off against Republican candidate Vinny Scicchitano and petitioning candidate John Kydes in the November election, according to The Norwalk Hour.

The winner of the mayoral race in November will fill a seat previously held by Mayor Harry Rilling, who announced in March he will not seek reelection after leading the city for 12 years.
Polls in Norwalk were open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the city.
