Norwalk School Employee Accused Of Pushing Student Charged With Assault: Police

NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk school employee was arrested Friday following an incident late last year in which the employee is accused of pushing a student, according to police.

In a news release, Police Sgt. Ryan Evarts said the department received a report on Dec. 5 of an incident between a Nathan Hale Middle School employee and a student in which the employee pushed the student.

A Special Victims Unit detective then conducted an investigation that included numerous interviews and video analysis, Evarts said.

An arrest warrant was later granted for the school employee, identified by police as Michael Morris, 30, of Norwalk, according to Evarts.

Morris turned himself into police Friday. He was charged with third-degree assault, risk of injury to a minor and disorderly conduct.

His bond was set at $75,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court later this month, according to Evarts.

A Norwalk Public Schools spokesperson confirmed Friday afternoon Morris is a special education paraeducator and is currently on paid administrative leave.
