Obituary: John W. Froleiks, 94
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Sat., Nov. 23, 2013 at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Rd., Norwalk.

John W. Froleiks, age 94, of Norwalk, died peacefully at the home of his daughter in Monroe.
He was the husband of the late Madeleine Monette Froleiks. John was born in Kempen, Germany on January 18, 1919, the son of the late William and Mary Froleiks and has lived in Norwalk for all of his life.
He was a graduate of Norwalk High School; Class of 1938 and up until this year had attended every yearly reunion.
John was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during WW II and was awarded the Purple Heart for valor in combat.
He and his wife were married in 1952 and worked for many years for A & D Vending in service and sales. After his retirement John worked as a security guard at Pitney-Bowes in Stamford and also volunteered at the Norwalk Hospital for 12 years.
He had a passion for music and played trumpet for the Hugh Golden Band and also with Nick Cutrone’s band. He was a diehard Pittsburg fan and loved both the Pirates and the Steelers. John was a longtime member of St. Jerome Church in Norwalk.
John is survived by his daughter Nina Wikman, her husband Mark and children Emma and Sam, all of Monroe.
A memorial mass for John will be celebrated on Saturday November 23rd at St. Jerome Church, 23 Half Mile Rd., Norwalk. Burial will be private and there are no visiting hours.
