Petroleum Truck Fire Closes I-95 In Norwalk, Lamont Issues Update
Gov. Ned Lamont said more information on the severity of the damage to the bridge will be known around 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

NORWALK, CT — Gov. Ned Lamont said crews are currently investigating the structural integrity of the bridge underneath the Fairfield Avenue overpass and state officials should have more answers around 1:30 p.m. on when Interstate 95 in Norwalk may reopen.
State officials said the bridge is stable and safe, but there was damage sustained, and they need to know how extensive it is before they can decide on next steps. Additionally, utilities are also hanging down and need to be repaired.
At 5:30 a.m. near Exit 15 on the southbound side of I-95 under the bridge, a tractor-trailer, car and a fuel truck were involved in a crash.

Lamont said, "thank God," there were no serious injuries. The closure on I-95 between exits 15 and 14 will continue on both sides of the highway. Lamont said people should avoid the area and that there are immense traffic jams.
Police said that emergency Services are working to extinguish a petroleum truck on fire on I-95, underneath the Fairfield Avenue overpass in Norwalk.

"This will impact local roads throughout Norwalk for an extended period of time and will create heavy traffic delays. Please seek alternate routes and give yourself extra time to travel," police said.
State Police said I-95 northbound and southbound in the area of Exit 15 in Norwalk will remain closed for an extended period of time. "We are currently unable to anticipate the duration of this closure. Please seek alternate routes and plan for significant traffic delays," state police said.
