NORWALK, CT — Officers seized hundreds of illegal vape pen, THC edible and other products after searching a Norwalk vape shop Tuesday, according to police.

In a news release, Police Sgt. Ryan Evarts said officers with the department's Special Services Division served a search and seizure warrant at Clever Smoke Shop on New Canaan Avenue as "part of an ongoing investigation into smoke shops in the city of Norwalk selling cannabis and cannabis products without a cannabis license."

According to Evarts, it is illegal to sell products that contain a total THC concentration greater than 0.3 percent without a state-issued license in Connecticut.

It is also illegal to sell pure marijuana when not a licensed dispensary, Evarts said.

As officers searched the business, they found a variety of pre-wrapped marijuana cigarettes, gummies/edibles and vapes in a storage cabinet concealed by beverage boxes, all of which were packaged for sale, according to Evarts.

  • 50 marijuana flower pouches
  • 215 illegal vape pen products
  • 49 illegal THC edible products

Officers also seized $7,030 in cash as part of the investigation, Evarts said.

As a result of the investigation, Nileshkumar Pravinbhai Patel, 37, of Freeport, N.Y., was arrested on charges of possession of greater than 1kg of marijuana product and possession with intent to sell over 1kg of marijuana product.

His bond was set at $2,500 and he is scheduled to appear in court next month, according to Evarts.
