An island off the Norwalk coast with a famed past is for sale.
Tavern Island, possibly named for an alleged speakeasy during prohibition, went on the market with an asking price of about $11 million, according to Zillow.com.
Famed lyricist Billy Rose, known best for “Me and My Shadow,” once owned the property and it’s rumored Marilyn Monroe partied at least once on the island.

The island is about an hour from Manhattan and the main three-story home has six bedrooms, seven baths, two offices, an exercise room and a steam room.
There is also a two-bed, two-bath cottage and a boat house with another bedroom.

Also included in the package are two boats and a half-acre property with a dock and parking lot on the mainland.
