RTC Chairman Files Police Complaint After Campaign Signs Go Missing

According to Art Scialabba, RTC Chair in Norwalk, every election season some signs go missing, but this season is another story. On Wednesday Scialabba filed a police complaint regarding thefts of campaign signs.

"We expect to lose a couple of signs here and there, but this election season it seems that it has been an organized and deliberate attempt to steal as many “Moccia for Mayor” lawn signs as they can, off the property of our of supporters," Scialabba said in a release.

"This election season is the worst we’ve seen, loosing more signs this year than all of my years as Town Chairman combined," stated Scialabba who reported that by his calculations, upwards of 150 signs have gone missing throughout the city.

A higher loss rate was reported in East Norwalk, according to the RTC release.

"Signs cost campaigns anywhere from $6 to $8 each, and having to reorder signs, boosts up the cost per sign even more," Scialabba continued. "We are estimating that it has costs all of the Republican campaign committees combined over $1,000, and we hope that the stealing is over."

Scialabba said that if the Norwalk Police catch the person or people taking the signs that the RTC will press charges.
