NORWALK, CT — Several birds were killed and a resident was displaced after a fire broke out at a Norwalk home on Easter, according to fire officials.

In a news release provided by the department, Deputy Chief Adam Markowitz said the fire was reported Sunday just before 3 p.m. at a two-story wood frame home on Lockwood Lane.

According to Markowitz, the department initially received reports of a fire inside the home with a resident trying to get back inside.

When crews arrived they found heavy smoke coming from the front of the home on the first floor and a fully involved kitchen fire in back, Markowitz said.

As the fire began to take control of the first floor and make its way to the second floor, crews used two attack lines to control and extinguish the blaze, then began ventilating the building, according to Markowitz.
