Obituary: John William Dockendorff, 72, of Orange
John, affectionately known as "Dock", was a devoted family man, avid golfer and owner and operator of Milford Land Title.

ORANGE, CT - (From Cody-White Funeral Home) John William Dockendorff, 72, of Orange, beloved husband of 47 years to Donna (Sydoriak) Dockendorff, passed away on July 24, 2021 after fighting a courageous battle against cancer.
Born on June 19, 1949 in New Haven, he was the eldest son of the late Patricia and John Dockendorff.
John was a cherished husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle, and friend. He was affectionately known as “Dock” to many. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was a diehard fan of the New York Giants and LA Dodgers (who will always be the Brooklyn Dodgers to him).
John was also an avid golfer.
He was a prior member of the Racebrook Country Club and longtime member of the Ocean Edge Golf Club in Brewster, MA where he and Donna resided part time.
He loved his visits to Cape Cod, going to the beach, playing golf and taking his grandsons out on the course and driving range. Always an optimist, John looked at the glass half full and encouraged those around him to do the same.
John graduated from Amity High School in 1967 and continued his education at Leicester Jr. College then graduated from the University of New Haven, Cum Laude.
He worked for several area attorneys before establishing his own company, Milford Land Title, which through his hard work grew to be a very successful business in the Milford community that he loved.
John firmly believed in preserving land in its natural state for future generations.
For that reason, John served on the Board of Directors of the Milford Land Conservation Trust and was President of the Trust for many years.
Along with his wife, John leaves behind his daughter, Susanna and her husband, Joseph; grandsons, Marcello and Maximus; brothers, James (Leslie) and Robert (Jennifer) Dockendorff; nieces, Jessica LoDolce and Lisa Dockendorff; nephews, Christopher and John Trevor Dockendorff as well as many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and parents-in-law, John and Olga Sydoriak.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Smilow Cancer Hospital for their compassionate care.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place on Thursday, July 29, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT with a Prayer Service to conclude at 11:30 a.m.
