Derby Neck Library

10:30 – 11:30am Every other Monday, little ones are invited to join Brendan for some fun fingerplays, stories, and games aimed at early literacy, language development, and socialization! This program is targeted to ages 3 – 5, but everyone is welcome! Shelton Parks & Recreation

&nbsp;Jim Laurino, a Plein-air painter, will present an oil-painting demonstration on January 12, 2026 at the Shelton Community Center, 41 Church Street, Huntington, 2nd floor, room #2. The Shelton Art League general meeting begins at 11:45am. Jim Laurino, a Burlington Ct resident, studied design and color theory at the University of Connecticut. His painting style developed over time and balances impressionist's influences with contemporary subject matter. He paints outdoor scenes of iconic locales in the Northeast, favoring Western Ct and the Finger Lakes region. His style is bold as shown in his scenes of rivers, lakes, seascapes, woodlands, farms, historic buildings, etc. He has paintings in numerous private collections and has participated in many juried shows, winning various awards. 3:30 – 5:30pm Join us as we watch one of Alfred Hitchcock’s greatest masterpieces, Notorious (1946), starring Ingrid Bergman, Cary Grant, and Claude Rains. This spy thriller features some of Hitchcock’s most compelling morally gray characters and several of his most heart-stoppingly beautiful shots. Hot, fresh popcorn will be served!

Salt Cave of Darien

You will be positioned inside a beautiful Himalayan Salt Cave with your own special aerial hammock. You will learn how to create space throughout the entire body with various types of full body stretches. You will create space in the hips, shoulders, &amp; neck. Learn how to release tension in the joints &amp; the connective tissue. Strengthen the core muscles &amp; lower back muscles. While also learning how to do mild inversion therapy to stretch the spine &amp; relieve back pain. All while breathing in the natural anti-inflammatory properties of the Halotherapy, or Himalayan salt while being suspended/cocooned in the aerial hammock. Halotherapy is an alternative treatment that involves breathing salty air. The Darien Salt Cave is a controlled holistic environment that simulates the micro-climate of a naturally occurring salt cave. We’ll have interactive toys perfect for those practicing tummy time up to those learning to stand and walk, such as shakers, interactive mats, water tables, and more!
