Shelton Police Chief: Flooding Possible for the Maples by Sunday

It could happen sooner if the rain continues, said Police Chief Joel Hurliman.

With the National Weather Service issuing a flash flood warning for southern Connecticut, Police Chief Joel Hurliman is advising the residents of the Maples, near the Housatonic River, to be careful.

"The forecast is calling for some flooding on Sunday," Hurliman said. But if heavier rain comes earlier, then flooding could start earlier.

He urged the residents to take appropriate safety precautions.

The Housatonic originates in western Massachusetts, the chief noted.

The National Weather Service is calling for rain and/or chances of rain through Tuesday.
