Soupstock Returning to Shelton

Soupstock isn't just a cooking ingredient in Shelton.

This year's event, slated for June 8 at Veterans Memorial Park in Downtown Shelton, will feature food, musical acts, a soup cooking contest, arts ands crafts, a kid zone and a student art competition.

Admission is free for the event, runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"SOUPSTOCK is the annual fundraising event for the Mary A. Schmecker Turtle Shell Fund, a 501c3 public charity started by Mary's grandchildren Joe Manganello and Michele Bialek and Michele's husband Fred Bialek in 2010.  Along with co-producer and board member Nicole Heriot, we have created a signature cultural event for the Lower Naugatuck Valley area," said the festival's creators.
