Michael Joseph Soda, 59, of Shelton Road, is charged with tampering with a witness and violation of a protective order.
Police said Soda sent a woman messages in violation of a court order barring him from contacting her.
His bond was set at $10,000 for an appearance in Derby Superior Court.
In a separate incident, Thomas J. Giardini, 40, of Berkshire Road, Ansonia, is charged with second-degree threatening after an alleged argument during a domestic violence incident.
Giardini is free on a written promise to appear in court.
