Leaf Pick Up Schedule Unchanged After Hurricane Sandy

Leaf pick-up in the Town of Simsbury will continue as scheduled in spite of Hurricane Sandy, according to Public Works Director Tom Roy.  “As we’ve done in the past, the Town will pick up leaves, provided they are leaves only and bagged in biodegradable brown paper bags.”  The bags should be left on the edge of the road and will be picked up beginning on Wednesday, November 7^th at 7:00 a.m.  For a complete schedule of pick-up dates, please visit the Public Works Department website at www.simsbury-ct.gov/pubworks. Residents as well as contractors hired by a resident can dispose of leaves at the Wolcott Road landfill for free – no permit required.

As tree damage resulting from Hurricane Sandy was minimal, there will be no town-wide collection of storm debris.  Residents are encouraged to bring storm debris to the Bulky Waste Facility, 74 Wolcott Road, on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.  The Facility is also accepting food waste resulting from power outages.   For a schedule of fees, please visit the Town’s website at www.simsbury-ct.gov, click on the “Residents” link and click on “Recycling Center.”
