Attilio’s New Restaurant Focuses on Family

Earlier this month, Attilio Ceneviva opened the doors to Attilio’s Family Restaurant on Route 10 near the Granby town line.

Ceneviva is well known for his 8 years running Attilio’s Restaurant at Simsbury Farms, a seasonal eatery he closed last fall.

He joked that the new restaurant came from “needing a job” but said the focus is different.

“I’m having fun,” he said. “This is more family oriented.”

Ceneviva said he truly did love working at the old restaurant but said the seven-days a week schedule was demanding, admitting that if the doors are open, he wants to be on site.

The new restaurant, which seats about 60, offers much more autonomy, he added. He’s purposely left times such as Mondays and weekday mornings available for family.

The new restaurant offers pizza, burgers and salads.

Ceneviva said he’s always wanted to makes pizzas. He said the dough is hand tossed, the marinara made on site and high quality ingredients, such as fresh mozzarella used. 

He’s also offering some unique toppings, such as a dessert pizza with nutella and strawberries.

“I’m almost putting some of my entrees on the pizzas,” he said.

The restaurant opened June 7 and on Wednesday, the Chamber of Commerce and family and friends helped officially celebrate the business with a ribbon cutting.

Pizzas are $13 and $18.50, burgers range from $7.50 to $11 and sandwiches and salads from $5 to $9. appetizers start at $3.50. The restaurant serves beer and wine in addition to soft drinks. 

Attilio has numerous years of experience in the kitchen In addition to the restaurant at  Simsbury Farms, Ceneviva was an executive chef at the Wadsworth Atheneum and the Mark Twain House. He had also worked in Manhattan prior to moving to Simsbury, where he lives with his wife Catherine and their three children.
