State Rep. Hampton organized a cleanup date for Earth Day and would like to thank all volunteers that supported the cleanup.
From The Office of State Rep. John K. Hampton: State Representative John K. Hampton (D-Simsbury) is very pleased at the number of volunteers that helped out on a Simsbury cleanup event he organized for Earth Day.
Volunteers included the Simsbury United Methodist Church, other church groups, members of the local Daisy and Boy Scout Troops, and new residents who participated for the first time. The yearly collection started as Linda’s Litter Lugging Day by former State Representative Linda Schofield.
“I thank all the dedicated volunteers who made this Earth Day cleanup successful. This type of volunteerism and community pride is what makes Simsbury special. I was proud to be able to carry on the tradition started by former Representative Linda Schofield,” Rep. Hampton said. “I also give big thank you to Fitzgerald’s Foods for the donation of gloves and garbage bags, as well as Paine’s Inc. Recycling and Disposal Services for the donation of dumpsters and recycle bins. Without them this collection wouldn’t be possible”
