Letter to the Editor: Folk for State Representative

Simsbury voters are very fortunate to have Charity Folk, a long time resident and Executive Director of Simsbury’s Chamber of Commerce, step forward and run for the State Representative seat. Charity’s long standing residency and her work with local businesses give her unique insights into the needs of our community and its businesses.
The Institute for Truth in Accounting has just ranked Connecticut 50th in the United States for its financial woes. They go so far as to call us a “sinkhole state” where each taxpayer’s portion of unfunded liabilities as of 2010 exceeds $49,000 by conservative calculations! This has been building for years but the increase from 2009 of almost $7,800, or 19%, shows an alarming trend that must be halted.
Charity understands these challenges and while the necessary fixes may be painful, they will ensure the long term health of our State and our community. Simsbury residents already remit to the State ten times more in taxes than we receive in return!

Simsbury’s voters need to send Charity to the legislature to be a voice for our community and to bring balance to a Capitol that is woefully unbalanced. Please join me in voting for Charity this November so that Simsbury’s voice and votes will be counted in Hartford once again!
Very truly yours,
