To the Editor,
Several months ago I endorsed John Hampton for State Representative.
I recently attended the debate at Eno Hall, where John Hampton, Charity Folk, and Robert Kalechmann each stated their platforms and answered various questions. I strongly encourage voters to view the debate on SCTV, either on television or on-line.

The debate crystallized why I endorsed Mr. Hampton. His answers were detailed, included specific plans and were well-articulated. Like his opponents, he asserted his commitment to prudent fiscal management and to the support of the business community. However, he went further and also spoke passionately of his commitment to seniors, education, open space preservation and veterans. Furthermore, Mr. Hampton could lend credence to his commitments by describing his track record, of taking action on behalf of these issues and people, as a town official over many years.
Mr. Hampton was also the most able to accurately describe in detail exactly how the legislature works and how he could get things done there. He truthfully noted that he has many positive relationships there already, from his earlier years of working there as a staff member.

I left the debate feeling that John Hampton “won” hands down and demonstrated why my earlier endorsement had been right. If you watch the debate, I’m sure you’ll conclude that Mr. Hampton is the best candidate for State Representative.
