Simsbury Firefighters Complete Terrorism Response Course
Two members of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company recently completed a training course with the Dept. of Homeland Security

Submitted release
Two Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company officers, Deputy Chief Kevin Kowalski, and Tariffville Lt. Mike Brown, have completed “Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings,” a course sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security and administered by the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.
The four-day course covered identifying potential targets and pre-attack indicators, how to identify explosives and improvised explosive devices and how to respond safely to pre- and post-detonation incidents. Field laboratories allowed the students to observe, and sometimes handle, explosives and see the resulting damage from successful attacks. Kowalski and Brown are now certified as course instructors.
