Simsbury High senior Eduardo Rosadio recently organized a tennis tournament that raised more than $600 for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Here is his account of the day:
Despite the uncertain drizzling at the beginning of the day, we were able to hold the tournament indoors thanks to Simsmore Tennis Club. I would also especially thank Carolyn Lee and her son for helping us move indoors and set up the scene that day. As soon as we settled, all four Simsmore courts were busy with players having fun playing doubles and singles matches. On one court playing were a 5-year-old Rafaella (my sister) and a seven-year-old MJ Chaho. On other courts juniors of all ages played — even with adults! Everybody had a blast, especially knowing that we did it for a worthy cause.
We were able to raise more than $600 that day to be donated to the children at the Care Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at CT Children's Medical Center who need it most. All proceeds came from the participants' contributions and online money gifts through my website: crosscourtxtennis.sitespawner.com.
Special thanks to all my friends and family who supported me in carrying out this event a success! We will be back next summer!
