Road crews have begun ripping up one side of Berkshire Road along with a large section of the hill adjacent to the road.
Workers on scene said it was the largest project the town currently has going on and that it would be a ‘big job, taking most of the summer’.
Eventually a drain will be installed up the road and the road will be reconstructed.
One-way traffic can pass by the construction, with Southbury Police working detail.
