SOUTHBURY, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation plans to construct a new permanent bridge along Route 67 in Southbury, replacing a temporary structure installed after a severe rainstorm in August 2024 undermined the original bridge.

The new bridge will replace Bridge No. 02437, which spans the South Branch of Bullet Hill Brook. A temporary structure was placed following the storm to maintain traffic flow.

According to the state DOT, the design phase is expected to conclude by November 2026. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2027, pending project approval, funding availability, and necessary environmental and right-of-way permits.
