CTDOT To Hold Sept. 9 Meeting On Route 67 Bridge Replacement In Southbury
CTDOT will host a Sept. 9 meeting on plans to replace the Route 67 bridge in Southbury, with construction targeted for summer 2027.
SOUTHBURY, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation will hold an in-person public information meeting Sept. 9 on plans to replace the bridge carrying Route 67 (Southford Road) over the South Branch Bullet Hill Brook.
The session is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Room 205A at Southbury Town Hall, 501 Main Street South. It will be livestreamed on the town website, and a recording will be posted afterward in the town’s video archives.
DOT officials said the project will remove a temporary bridge and install a permanent structure designed to improve safety by addressing sight line issues, widening shoulders, and improving traffic flow by eliminating the existing traffic signal.

Temporary rights-of-way on town-owned property will be needed for channel reconstruction and construction staging. The estimated $7 million project is slated to begin in summer 2027, pending funding, property access, and permit approvals. Federal funds would cover 80% of the cost, with the state paying the remainder.
A Q&A session will follow the presentation. Language assistance is available at no cost with at least five business days’ notice. Written and verbal comments will be accepted through Sept. 23 by email at DOTProjectPP130-25@ct.gov or Jonathan.kempf@ct.gov, or by phone at 860-594-2020 or 860-594-3308.
