Snow, Rain Headed Towards Southbury

Rain, snow and high winds forecast for Southbury Wednesday evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Southbury forecasting rain, snow and sleet, mainly after 4 p.m. 

The winter weather advisory calls for the following:

  • Snow, mainly after 4 p.m. High near 36. Total daytime snow accumulation of around an inch possible
  • Wednesday Night: Snow, freezing rain, and sleet before midnight, then rain and sleet between midnight and 3 a.m., then rain after 3 a.m. The rain, freezing rain, and snow could be heavy at times. Low around 30. Windy, with a east wind 22 to 28 mph, with gusts as high as 48 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.2 of an inch possible. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
  • Thursday: Rain, mainly before noon. High near 41. North wind 13 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
  • Thursday Night A slight chance of rain before 9 p.m., then a slight chance of snow between 9 p.m. and midnight. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 25. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
