Southbury Church Hosts Backpack and School Supplies Drive

Donations will be collected until August 14 to benefit abused, neglected and impoverished children.

Help the Sacred Heart Church Covenant to Care volunteers make the first day of school a special event for their Covenant to Care kids. The volunteers will be assembling backpacks for children, ages Kindergarten through high school once again, according to a press release. The donated school supplies can help stretch the budget of families who are struggling to just buy food.

The requested school supplies include: Backpacks, Crayons, Markers, Colored Pencils, Rulers, Highlighters, Glue Sticks, Pencils, Pens, Calculators, Dictionaries, 1-Subject Notebooks, 3 & 5-subject Notebooks, Looseleaf paper (wide & college-ruled), Binders (1”, 1.5”, larger), Assignment Pads, Dividers, Folders, Erasers, Soft Pencil Cases, Construction Paper.

Covenant to Care is a commitment between Sacred Heart Church and our area social workers to provide more resources to assist abused, neglected and impoverished children. Some of our programs include emergency baby needs, a Christmas Gift, giving tree, Easter Baskets, special occasion gifts and the school backpacks and supplies drive.
