Surveillance Camera Captures Equipment Thief in Southbury

A larceny was reported at the Playhouse Corner in Southbury when police say a man walked up and stole landscaping equipment with workers just steps away.

According to police, an Echo 4’ hedge trimmer was stolen on June 10 at approximately 10:11 a.m. near 77 Main Street North in Southbury when an unidentified man walked up the hill towards the complex and picked up the trimmer off the ground, with employees working approximately 35 feet away.

Surveillance camera footage captured the suspect which police described as a white or possibly Hispanic male with dark colored hair and a mustache. The suspect was wearing a white t-shirt, dark pants and dark sneakers with white soles.
