45% Of Southbury Households Remain Without Power: Officials

Officials update on the town's recovery from Tropical Storm Isaias.

SOUTHBURY, CT — The town of Southbury continues its recovery from Tropical Storm Isaias. There were 45 percent of Southbury households without power as of 12 noon, according to officials.

Eversource and Public Works continue working to clear roads and restore power.

After review of the storm damage, First Selectman Jeff Manville has decided to waive the fees at the Transfer Station for brush and tree limbs 6-in and under in diameter only.

SOUTHBURY, CT — (From Town Hall): Southbury is in recovery mode after the Tropical Storm Isaias. Many roads are blocked with trees and downed wires. Please restrict travel if at all possible. Public Works is working to clear roads where no wires are present. There is no estimate for restoration of power at this point — 58 percent of Southbury households were without power as of 12 noon.

Town Hall and Senior Center/Park and Rec buildings are closed to the public.

Library is open to the public but in order to maintain social distancing, patron capacity is limited to 25 people at a time.

Charging stations are available for residents OUTSIDE of the Town Hall (accessed from the upper parking lot), Senior Center/Parks and Recreation building (next to P&R entrance) and Library (on the terrace). Look for signs.

Non-potable water is available for residents OUTSIDE of the main Fire House on Main Street South (lower parking lot, right side of the building). Look for signs.

Potable water is available for residents OUTSIDE of the Town Hall (accessed from the lower parking lot) and Senior Center (on the back of the building). Look for signs.
