Wilton's Middlebrook School Hires Region 15 School Principal: Report

Ms. Feltz taught grades 1 and 2 in Wilton for 13 years and was the principal of Region 15's Middlebury Elementary School.

WILTON, CT — Middlebrook School in Wilton has hired former Middlebury Elementary School principal Lauren Feltz, according to a report on the Republican American.

Retired principal Mary Lou Torre, who served as interim principal of Gainfield Elementary School in Region 15 last year, will serve again as interim principal of Middlebury Elementary School this fall, according to the report.
Ms. Feltz replaces Middlebrook School's principal Mrs. Maria Coleman who was appointed in February of 2013. Ms. Feltz was named MES principal in April of 2013 when Region 15 Schools posted the following message on Patch:

"I am happy to announce the appointment of Ms. Lauren Feltz as the next principal of Middlebury Elementary School. She was selected from an impressive pool of 77 applicants with candidates from many states. Ms. Feltz is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College where she majored in psychology and education. She holds Master’s degrees from Cambridge College in education and The Graduate Institute in oral tradition. Her education leadership advanced degree was completed at Sacred Heart University. After thirteen years as a grade 1 and grade 2 teacher in Wilton, Ms. Feltz became assistant principal of Emma-Hart Willard School in Berlin. She has served in that position for three years."

Middlebrook Schoolcame in at No. 7 among middle schools in the state with an overall Niche.com grade of A+. Niche says it ranked 19,710 middle schools nationwide based on key student statistics and 4.6 million opinions from 280,000 students and parents.

Middlebrook School serves 1,033 students in grades 6-8, and has a staff of over 95 professionals, their website states.

"Middlebrook School is firmly grounded in teaming, interdisciplinary instruction, a full exploratory program, flexible block scheduling and curriculum all designed to meet the needs of the early adolescent. Technology is integrated effectively into all areas of the curriculum with an emphasis on information literacy.
