Police: Woman Attempts to Steal $800 of Groceries from Southbury Stop & Shop

Police arrive as woman is reportedly pushing third carriage of stolen groceries out of store.

Doreen Paternostro, 55, of Waterbury, was charged with fifth-degree larceny on Mar. 3 at approximately 5:14 p.m.

According to police, Paternostro walked out of Stop & Shop in the Southbury Plaza and unloaded two carriages of stolen merchandise into her car. She was working on pushing a third carriage out of the store when apprehended by police. All together the stolen merchandise totaled over $800.

Paternostro was released on $1,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Waterbury Superior Court on Mar. 13.
