After Nearly 30 Years, Prominent Discount Retailer To Close Southington Store

The company said the store chain was unable to secure a long-term lease extension with the landlord.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Rhode Island-based discount retail chain confirmed Thursday it plans to shutter its store in Southington after nearly three decades in town.

The Ocean State Job Lot store on 328 Queen St. will close next month when its lease expires, the company said.

"We explored a long-term lease extension to reinvest in this store," wrote Ocean State Job Lot in a statement released Thursday.
