Beloved Southington Music Teacher, Ex-Administrator Mourned By School Board
The Southington Board of Education last month honored the memory of two recent ex-employees who died, one being a 30-year music teacher.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington school officials recently honored two former school system employees who died in recent weeks, including a longtime music teacher.
The Southington Board of Education, at its last meeting on Nov. 13, had moments of silence for two ex-employees:
• Concrad "Goz" Gozzo, a music teacher in Southington Public Schools from 1960 to 1990, died Oct. 29 at the age of 94.

• Dr. Angelo Coppola, a Southington School System educator/central office administrator from 1964 until 2003, died Nov. 1 at 83.
Gozzo, a New Britain native and Southington resident, taught music at Southington High School, DePaolo Junior High School, and Flanders Elementary School.

According to his online obituary, Coppola "Angelo spent 40 years as a devoted educator, guidance counselor, school psychologist, research and evaluation specialist, director of special education, and assistant superintendent of schools across Southington, Meriden, Terryville/Plymouth, and the University of Hartford."
Southington Board of Education Chairman Zaya Oshana said Coppola was first hired as a teacher in 1964 in Southington and then hired as an assistant school superintendent in Southington in 1992.
