SOUTHINGTON, CT — Kids bitten by the acting bug in Southington can spend part of their summer performing.

And starting Friday, July 11, the first show of the Southington Youth Summer Theater will take place at Southington High School, with the community welcome to see their hard work.

The program, organized by the town's recreation department, features three plays this year, with tickets just $5 each for each of the first two shows and $10 for the final play of the summer.

All shows take place in the SHS auditorium at 720 Pleasant St., and tickets are available at the door (cash or check).

• Friday, July 11, Saturday, July 12: Junie B. Jones Jr.: The Musical' ($5)

• Friday, July 18, Saturday, July 19: 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical' ($5)

• Friday, July 25, Saturday, July 26: 'Footloose' ($10)

In addition, tickets for the shows can be purchased in advance in the Southington Recreation Department office at 388 Pleasant St. during business hours.
