SOUTHINGTON, CT — The polls have now closed as Southington residents cast their votes for several key municipal positions in town.

In the night's top race in Southington, the Republicans easily maintained their 6-3 hold on the town's top elected body, with all GOP town council candidates earning new seats.

Also, both ballot questions passed, one regarding spending $6.6 million for multiple school roof projects, and the other to set aside $2 million for future open space purchases.

Question 1: "Shall the Town of Southington appropriate $6,617,400 for costs related to repairs and replacements of roofs at Hatton Elementary School, William Strong Elementary School, and Reuben E. Thalberg Elementary School, and authorize the issue of $6,617,400 bonds and notes to finance the appropriation?"

Question 2: "Shall the Town of Southington appropriate $2,000,000 for acquisition of land for open space purposes, and authorize the issue of bonds and notes in the same amount to finance said appropriation?"
