Southington Fire Station Will Employ Paid Firefighters Thanks To Grant

The Southington Fire Department received a grant from FEMA, allowing it to staff its Station 3 in Plantsville with career firefighters.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Thanks to a federal grant, the Southington Fire Department will begin staffing its Station 3 in Plantsville with career firefighters.

The fire station, located at 35 Clark St., has been staffed by volunteers since it was built in 1993, fire department officials told Patch.

But the Southington Fire Department was recently awarded a SAFER Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, allowing it to staff Station 3 with three paid firefighters during the week in addition to its volunteer staff.
