31 Tested in Suspected Tuberculosis Case in Stamford

The tests were conducted after a patient with ties to Westhill HS was suspected to have the disease.

STAMFORD, CT - Since a suspected tuberculosis case was reported last week at Westhill High School, 31 people reportedly have been tested for the airborne disease.

The 31 were identified by officials as having had close contact with the patient who was suspected of having the disease and reported by Stamford Hospital on Feb. 23, according to The Advocate.

In a letter to the Westhill community last week, city health officials said, the city health department would offer tuberculosis testing “to close contacts as they would be considered to be at highest risk."

Citing privacy laws, officials have not divulged the patient's relationship to the school and have only said it is someone who is “part of the Westhill High School community.”

Director of Health and Public Safety Ted Jankowski said the test results are not done, according to The Advocate story that can be found here.
