Driver Extricated From Vehicle, Seriously Injured In Stamford Crash: Police

Police said three people were taken to the hospital following the early-morning crash.

STAMFORD, CT — A local resident was seriously injured and had to be extricated from their vehicle following a crash in Stamford early Sunday morning, according to police.

The crash occurred in the 2600 block of Long Ridge Road at approximately 4:37 a.m., police said in a news release.

A 2016 Volkswagen SUV was traveling northbound on Long Ridge Road and a 2016 Nissan SUV was turning around in a nearby parking lot and pulled out of the lot to head south on Long Ridge, police said, noting the two vehicles collided, causing severe damage to both.

The driver of the Nissan, a 39-year-old Norwalk resident, suffered serious, potentially life-threatening injuries in the collision and needed to be extricated from the vehicle due to the damage, police said.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 24-year-old Stamford resident and a front seat passenger, 30, also of Stamford, sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

All three occupants were taken to Stamford Hospital for treatment.

Long Ridge Road was closed for approximately five hours as a result of the crash.
