Flood Watch Issued In Stamford, According To National Weather Service
There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and into Wednesday, the National Weather Service says.
STAMFORD, CT — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flooding and severe thunderstorm notice, a flood watch and a heat advisory for the Stamford area and surrounding towns, according to an announcement from the city.
"Stamford’s Office of Public Safety has been notified of the potential for flash flooding in our area later this afternoon," the city said in an announcement. "With deadly flooding in recent headlines, flood safety is top of mind for all of us."
According to the forecast from the National Weather Service, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5 p.m.

Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall.
A flood watch is in effect for the entire area from 2 p.m. Tuesday until 2 a.m. Wednesday.

A heat advisory is now in effect until 8 p.m.
Residents are being reminded to never drive on flooded or barricaded roads. Residents in low-lying areas or areas prone to flooding should always be prepared to see typical or worse flood conditions.
