Here's Why You Might See A Low-Flying Helicopter In Stamford Wednesday
Residents may see a helicopter flying at approximately 125-150 feet above the ground in certain areas of Stamford, police said.
STAMFORD, CT — Helicopter patrols of power lines along the Stamford railroad tracks were scheduled to start Wednesday at 10 a.m. and go until 4 p.m., according to police.
Helicopter N642AB, operated by Catalyst Aviation, will be conduct the patrols. The helicopter will fly at approximately 125-150 feet above the ground, slightly above electrical towers, police noted.
"It will hover momentarily at each tower to inspect equipment. It will make two passes (one on each side of the rail line) to ensure there are no blind spots," police said.

Residents may also see the helicopter traveling between locations or surveying the patrol route.
"There is no cause for alarm — this is part of a scheduled safety inspection to ensure reliability and proper function of power infrastructure in our community," police added.

This work is weather dependent, but the patrol is expected to be completed within four days of flying.
