The courts were last renovated in 2005.
"The full renovation of the Scalzi Tennis Courts will transform one of our community’s most popular recreation areas — replacing aging infrastructure with ten new USTA-standard tennis courts, six dedicated pickleball courts, modern lighting, and upgraded seating and landscaping to create a high-quality space for players and spectators alike."

The improvements will also add a new storage shed to the site.
The project, which began this week, will cost $2.6 million. Simmons had set aside money for park improvements in her most recent budget.
Residents praised the project in Facebook comments underneath Simmons' announcement.

"Keep it up!!!! A thriving public park is a treasure for any city!!! We thoroughly enjoy using them!!!" another resident wrote.
