GREENWICH, CT — A 37-year-old man wanted in connection with a shooting in Stamford from March of this year was arrested Wednesday following a lengthy and meticulous investigation, according to police.

On March 31, a victim was severely injured after getting shot in the leg in a parking area on Montauk Drive, Stamford Assistant Police Chief Richard Conklin said. The shooting is believed to have stemmed from a dispute.

Shell casings that held .223 semi-automatic rifle rounds, typically seen in firearms like the AR-15 assault-style rifle, were found at the scene, Conklin said, noting the discovery raised concerns with police.
The SPD's Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) Major Crimes Squad C immediately launched an investigation and obtained an arrest warrant for Wash on criminal possession of ammunition, Conklin said.

Recently, investigators secured another arrest warrant for Wash that charges him with first-degree assault and criminal possession of a firearm, Conklin added.
"A firearm was not recovered, but the investigation reveals [Wash] had possession of said firearm that he used in this shooting," Conklin explained.
BCI worked with the SPD's Narcotics and Organized Crime Squad to locate Wash, with officers receiving information he was at a house on Taylor Street on Stamford's West Side, Conklin said.
On Sept. 10 at around 9:15 a.m., Wash exited the house and officers moved in to arrest him, but he fled on foot, Conklin said. Wash was arrested a short distance away on Mission Street.
During the brief foot pursuit, Wash was seen tossing a knotted bag containing approximately 3.4 grams of cocaine, Conklin said, adding that officers also found $2,665 in cash on his person, and a scale in a car he was using.
Wash was additionally charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and interfering with police. Officers also found another warrant for Wash on file that charges him with first-degree failure to appear.
The bonds from the arrest warrants total $450,000. Wash was expected to be arraigned in Stamford Superior Court Thursday, Conklin said.
Conklin praised investigators for their "tenacity and lengthy follow-up" in the investigation, citing the forensic evidence that was examined and laboratory work needed to obtain arrest warrants.
