In Memoriam: Carmela Carrizzo

Carmela Carrizzo, 68, of Stamford, died on February 11, 2016 at Greenwich Hospital.

She was born on October 18, 1947 to the late Francesco Federico and the late Anna Federico in Castello Del Matese, Italy.

The eldest of six, she was raised in the Bronx, New York.

She married the late Giovan Guisseppe Carrizzo and had two children, Speranza Carrizzo, wife of Paul Soden and Antonio Carrizzo, husband of Bernadette Carrizzo. She was a loving grandmother of five: Danielle, Joseph, Paul, Mia, and Jonathan. She was a beloved sister to her five brothers and sisters: Guisseppe Federico, Antoinette Iodice, Victoria Cioffi, Vincenzo Federico, and Alice Crognale.

She was a well-respected business owner of multiple hair salons in Connecticut and New York. She will be dearly missed by the many lives that she touched throughout the course of her life. She was truly a remarkable woman.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, February 16, from 4 to 8 P.M. at Castiglione Funeral Home, 544 Old Post Rd. #3 in Greenwich. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 17 at St. Paul’s Church, 84 Sherwood Ave., Greenwich. Burial will be held at Ferncliff, Cemetery in Hartsdale, NY.
