In Memoriam: Dominick Chiappetta

The Stamford resident passed away Feb. 20 at the age of 92.

Dominick Chiappetta of Stamford, passed away at his Stamford home on Saturday, February 20, 2016. He was 92 years old.

Dom was born in Cos Cob, the son of the late Angelina (Perito) and Frank Chiappetta.

Dom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Dom is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Libby) Chiappetta of 68 years; his three daughters Judy Calorossi and her husband Michael of Danbury, Debra Webb and her husband Michael of Danbury and Laurie Chiappetta and her husband Victor of Stamford, and his son Don Chiappetta and his wife Patricia of Stamford; his brother Arthur Chiappetta and his wife Linda of Tennessee; his brother-in-law Donald Palmer of Stamford. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Michael Calorossi and his wife Sharlene of Southbury, Chris Calorossi and his wife Nicole of Danbury, Jeffrey Calorossi of Danbury, Steven, Amanda and Christopher Chiappetta of Stamford, two great-grandchildren Matthew and Rachel Calorossi and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Milo, Albert and Billy Chiappetta, and his sisters Edith Palmer and Mary Stolfi.

Dom grew up in Cos Cob and was a World War II Veteran, serving with C Battalion 115th Field Artillery Regiment including the Battle of the Bulge. He moved to the West Side of Stamford when he married Libby and started West High Service Station in 1957 where he actively worked until his passing.

He was a Yankee fan and an avid Lionel train collector. He enjoyed restoring classic cars and was famous for growing and frying his hot peppers for Pizza Fridays at the shop.

The Chiappetta family will receive the sympathy and condolences of friends and family on Tuesday, February 23 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bosak Funeral Home, 453 Shippan Ave., Stamford. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 24 at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford. The interment will immediately follow to St. John’s Cemetery, in Darien.
